Are You Ready to Sale your Home?
1. Get Rid of the Mess
When staging your home, you always want to make it look as open as possible. A little bit of clutter can completely derail the appearance of your home. Nothing is more frustrating for a realtor than arriving at a listing to show potential buyers and finding that the house is once again cluttered. While your house is on the market, please keep it clean! It will make a huge difference.
2. Complete all DIY jobs around the house
When preparing your home to sell, your realtor is making an assessment and suggesting improvements for getting the highest possible price. Simple things can help a lot; it's amazing how much good a can of paint can do! Take a moment to go back through your list and be sure all of your suggested improvements have been completed.
Home-owners!!! You want buyers to desire to live in your home and achieving this can be as easy as baking cookies, adding plants or even lighting a great-smelling candle. Make sure plenty of light is filtering through the windows and that the home is welcoming and staged correctly to make the buyers simply want to move in that day!
4. Do not be home during the showing
When your home is on the market, it is a stressful time for you. You need to be able to leave the house on a moments notice in order for your realtor to show the property. Make sure that your hope of selling your home is seen by making yourself time-flexible for your realtor. People do not want to feel awkward by looking at a home while the whole family is around. It leaves a negative feeling, and a negative feeling does not equal a sale. Also, if possible, lock up the pets!
5. Mow your lawn and trim those bushes!
The first impression for potential buyers is formed the moment they pull up to the house. An initial impression makes a big impression…. good or bad. Do not leave toys and clutter in the yard, keep the garage door closed, and keep the lawn and landscaping looking appealing.
